Edmonton Sports Update: 21st Weekend of 2024

Hello sports fan. We have the BCHL Final Alberta Cup being awarded, a basketball game played, baseball and football starting this weekend. Man, that's not even all that's happening!!

BCHL Final Alberta Cup

The Brooks Bandits are up 3-1 in the best of seven series versus the Sherwood Park Crusaders. The two games in Sherwood Park were convincing wins by the Bandits. The two games in Brooks saw the Crusaders bring the battle but can they overcome the heartbreak of an overtime game 4 loss? Lets hope so or the season is over. Please note, when the Crusaders win that the game 6 on Friday is in Nisku instead of Sherwood Park (the ice is taken out of the Sherwood Park Arena).

Edmonton Stingers win big in Calgary

Adika Peter-Mcneilly, the longest serving current Stinger, had 15 points. Ben Krikke, playing in his first professional basketball game, scored 15 points. Last year's leader in average rebounds and assists Nick Hornsby collected a team leading 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Also with 5 assists was CEBL debuting guard Davion Warren. Former Saskatchewan Rattler guard Michael Nuga came off the bench adding 14 points and 3 steals.

Post Xavier Moon the Edmonton Stingers have relied on their depth as their strength. Arguably two players most would have expected to be in the opening paragraph, Brody Clarke and Elijah Miller, put up 8 and 10 points respectively. Neither needed to star. This team is deep!

Some tailgate menus for Saturday's Elks game

Cinnamon Toast Crunch won the boozy cupcake vote. Yes, the tailgate is a personal favorite. Remember, it's moved this season.

Edmonton Prospects season begins!

The Prospects 2024 return season begins on Friday with a weekend 3-game series in Fort McMurray. Friday and Saturday 7pm starts, Sunday a 2pm start.
