Edmonton Prospects 2024 Alberta Players

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) is an Alberta and Saskatchewan based collegiate league with the quality of baseball being compared to the Single-A professional level. After a year hiatus, the Edmonton Prospects have returned to the WCBL to bring you this great brand of baseball emanating out of Diamond #9, Centennial Park in Sherwood Park.

Root, root, rooting for the locals is a good place to start when a team is literally starting over. The Prospects currently have 4 Albertans on their main roster that we will take a peak at.

Gavin Fraser, Spruce Grove

A Gold Glove infielder you say? Dazzling glove work on a hot summer night is a quick way into any baseball fans heart. Absolute Human Performance's Sean Erickson also credits Fraser for having "++ base running". Baseball Canada alumni Shane Dawson Jr. points out that Fraser is more than just numbers calling him a "good teammate , hard worker, humble and he impacts the game doing the little things."

Nick Hagen, Spruce Grove

Hagen split the catching duties in 2024 with the Antelope Valley CC Marauders. What the stat card above does not show is that Hagen drew more walks (13) than strikeouts (12). Spending time learning through the Okotoks Dawgs Academy earned him the Antelope Valley College commitment. He has turned that commitment into one at Campbellsville University Kentucky. So his summer touring Alberta and Saskatchewan is about the mantra, "always learning, always improving".

Karter Andersen, Calgary

Aware of the provincial rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary, a reminder that if they play on your team they are a good guy. Listed at 6'5", Andersen promises to be an intimidating presence on the mound. Vauxhall Baseball Academy is one of the top facilities in Canada which is an impressive feat at Taber is not the more robust of towns in Alberta. Academic All-AMC in William Woods majoring in Business Administration, Andersen is more than just a student of the game.

Dillon Bowie, Spruce Grove

Back-to-back championship finals with Vancouver Island in the Canadian College Baseball Conference has Bowie used to play in pressure backed games. Will Bowie continue to use Taylor Swift's "The Story of Us" as his walkout song? A summer based in Alberta instead of visiting Alberta, lets see how it treats Bowie.
