There is lots to unpack over the last 2 weeks of the prospect watch. The WHL Cup started and finished with some great results for Oil Kings prospects, I learned something new about American junior hockey to better report their season correctly, and some of our prospects are lighting up their respective leagues on the score sheets. We’re compiling a season long watch of our up and coming Oil Kings prospects, the “Roil Reserves” as it were, and keeping you in the loop of who to watch in the coming years. Whether they’re in the AJHL, CSSHL, or anywhere else that I can find information on them, we’ve got you covered.
AJHL
Matt Williams
Williams has continued to suit up for Whitecourt Wolverines over the last 2 weeks, and has played in 4 of 5 games since the last update. Altogether he’s now played 8 of 10 games since being assigned to Whitecourt, and recorded his first point (an assist) on October 17th in a victory against the Olds Grizzlys. The Wolverines are sitting comfortably at 11-3-0 on top of the AJHL Standings. Earlier today, Matt Williams was recalled to the Oil Kings roster. Welcome Back, Matt!
Jensen Marsh
The 2009-born Marsh has seen his offensive pace dip a bit in recent weeks for the Drumheller Dragons. He started out super hot, with 7 points through his first 8 games after being re-assigned, but only has 1 of those points in 4 games since the last Roil Reserves check-in. With Marsh’s drop-off, so has gone the Dragons place in the standings. They’ve seen a drop off and find themselves in 3rd place in the AJHL South Division, 2 points back of the division leading Calgary Canucks.
Tucker Tullikopf
Camrose has played more than most over the last 2 weeks, as they added 7 games in that time period. Tucker Tullikopf has played in all of those games, and maintained his torrid pace throughout as he added another 8 points to take him to 16 on the season through 14 games played. He had a 7 game point streak snapped last Saturday, but managed to stay involved when he sparked his team with a fight after the Camrose Eagles tied the game 4-4 in the third period. Tullikopf also got a Game misconduct out of it, but his Kodiaks scored shortly after to take back the lead and ultimately win that game. The Kodiaks are currently tied with the Drumheller Dragons in a tightly contested AJHL South.
Presley Kerner
Kerner managed to get into more action with the Olds Grizzlys, after he had only just joined the team when last we checked in on him. He played in 4 more games, taking him to 6 total so far, but he’s still looking for that elusive first AJHL point. All in all, his stat lines looking pretty barren so far as all he has to his credit is a cross checking penalty. Olds is still sitting on the bottom of the AJHL standings, so it’s a tough situation that Kerner has landed in, but still plenty of time for him to establish a presence and help his team be competitive.
CSSHL
Holden Wouters
The Oil Kings were well represented at this year’s iteration of the WHL Cup, and first among them was first-round pick Holden Wouters on Team BC. The top defenseman has only played one additional CSSHL game for St. George’s School, but he did manage his first goal of the season in that one. After that game, he headed off to the WHL Cup where he recorded 3 assists in 5 games as a key member of the defense that carried Team BC to the Finals and ultimately a second-place finish in the tournament. St. George’s School remains near the bottom of the CSSHL Rankings, with a 1-5-0 record.
Christopher Kokkoris
Playing alongside Wouters for Team BC was his fellow first-round pick, Christopher Kokkoris. The 8th overall pick did not get into any more games for Yale Hockey Academy before heading off to join the WHL Cup. He managed 1 Goal and 2 assists in the tournament, with his goal being the opening goal of the tournament for Team BC. He is now headed back to join his CSSHL team at Yale, who find themselves at 1-4-2 in the young season and looking for a spark.

Cole Landreville
Across the ice from Wouters and Kokkoris to finish the WHL Cup stood Oil Kings second-round pick Cole Landreville on Team Manitoba. Landreville and his team at Pilot Mound Academy have both gotten off to better statistical starts than his counterparts (albeit he’s a forward compared to Wouters and Kokkoris as defenders). He added another 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 2 games for Pilot Mound before heading off to join Team Manitoba. This took him to 12 points through 7 games in the CSSHL. For Team Manitoba he provided 7 points through 5 games in the tournament, including 2 assists in the Finals, enroute to securing the WHL Cup win for Team Manitoba. He now rejoins Pilot Mound who hold a 4-3-1 record to this point in the season.
Matheas Hejda
The last CSSHL prospect for the Oil Kings is the American, Matheas Hejda, playing for the Northern Alberta Xtreme. He had 2 more games with the Xtreme, but unfortunately didn’t add any points in those games. Northern Alberta has not played since October 18th, as they were quiet throughout the time that the WHL Cup was ongoing. They are still 5-1-0 on the season, however, which has them 2nd overall in the CSSHL rankings.
U18 AAA
Kayson Anderson
The young defensive prospect has continued his strong start to the SMAAAHL season with the Estevan Bears, maintaining a point per game pace to this point. He’s at 13 points through 13 games, as the Bears have started to make their way up the standings slightly and climbed to 9th out of 12 teams in the league. The penalty issues continue to be a concern from a distant look, as he added a couple more cross-checking and slashing penalties in those games. Lots of stick concerns for the third-round-pick, that I still think he needs to cut back on if he wants to take the next step. To his credit, he did only have 6 PIM through 5 games over the last 2 weeks which does suggest it’s something that he is aware of and working on.

Rail Schollar
While Oil Kings Ethan Simcoe and Parker Snell have hit a rough patch on their seasons, and are battling through some bad bounces, Rail Schollar had a strong bounce back in his only start of the last 2 weeks. Last night, he started the game for his Calgary Northstars in the AEHL U18 and recorded the shutout in a 4-0 victory, stopping all 24 shots he faced. The AEHL did also have a brief break in their schedule during the WHL Cup tournament, so Schollar didn’t sit for more than 1 game, but it was still a 2 week rest and mental recuperation period for him and it appears to have helped him with a reset to get back in form. Calgary has moved to 5-2-0 with that victory, and sit 8th out of 16 teams in the AEHL.
U16 AAA
Ezekiel Kaebel
Upon some expanded research into the U16 AAA leagues in the USA over the past couple weeks, I have found some new discoveries on how their system works. Zeke Kaebel is playing for the Dallas Stars 16U Tier 1 team. This team plays games in both the Texas 16U league, and the USA 16U Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. The 10 points I reported on the last Roil Reserves were in the Texas 16U, which Kaebel has since played in an addition 3 games and added 2 more points bringing himself to 12 points through 13 games played there. Dallas is currently ranked 1st among the Texas league teams. In the USA T1EHL, Dallas has played 4 games and Kaebel has 8 points (3G, 5A) through those 4 games for an impressive 2 points-per-game average. Almost as if the Oil Kings 2025 1st Round US Prospect pick elevates his game for advanced levels of competition. Dallas currently sits ranked 4th overall among USA 16U teams.
Carter Nash
The 2025 goalie prospect is playing in Michigan for the Honeybaked U15 team, and again I had misunderstood some of the statistics on the last Roil Reserves which will be corrected here. The 2 games I reported before were in the Michigan Advanced Hockey Association (MAHA) in which Carter has since added 2 more games, both losses. Altogether in the MAHA U15, he has a 1-3 record, with the 1 win being the shutout, and a 3.09 GAA. In the USA 15U Tier 1 League, Nash has started an additional 10 games so far and holds a 5-5 record with 2 shutouts and a 2.58 GAA. A 9-6 record with 3 shutouts is not bad at all for a 15 year old, still plenty of time for him to grow and mature as a netminder. It helps his development greatly that Honeybaked have another goalie with a 12-1 to start the year, so Nash isn’t forced to carry the load on his own.

Brock Stevenson
Brock has continued his outstanding U16 season, rattling off points like it’s easy. In 5 games played over the past 2 weeks he has added another 6 points to his season total, bringing him up to 29 points through 13 games. He leads his team in assists (18) and is second in points. The Okanagan Colorado 16U AAA team is the 1st placed ranked team in U16 Colorado, and 3rd place in the 16U T1EHL, one place ahead of fellow Oil King prospect Ezekiel Kaebel’s Dallas Stars. In fact, their 2 teams played each other earlier in October for a 3 game series in Texas, which Okanagan won 2 of 3.
These updates can be found bi-weekly on The Roil Line, keeping you up to date on all things Oil Kings. While everybody is excited about the current season and what the team may be able to do this year, we’re looking ahead to the future to keep you informed!
