Roil Recollection: Oil Kings History on October 26

The accursed Calgary Hitmen are in Edmonton tonight, so it is apropos that the Club are bringing in the military for Military Appreciation night. What other battles have the modern day Oil Kings fought on this day in their history? Let's recollect!

2011-12

Fifty (50!) shots on a Wednesday by the Edmonton Oil Kings! Everett may have scored the first goal of the game but that was their only highlight. Kristians Pelss scored the eventual game winning goal. Mark Pysyk had a hat-trick of assists. Tristan Jarry with the 20-save victory.

2013-14

The game winning goal was scored by Swift Current Bronco and former Edmonton Oiler, the gone far too soon Colby Cave. Henrik Samuelsson scored the lone Oil Kings goal. Jarry had 28 saves in the loss.

2014-15

It is not often a team plays a game with committing a single penalty. Per the referees on this night, Moose Jaw did just that. A goal and an assist by Tyler Robertson helped ensure it did not matter as the Oil Kings skated away with the two points. Jarry with 24 saves in the win.

2015-16

Tyler Robertson twice scored the game tying goal for the Oil Kings. Robertson assisted on Aaron Irving's goal tying the game a third time. Kootenay scored 28 seconds into overtime.

2018-19

Three years later the Oil Kings avenged their overtime loss to the Ice by blowing them out 7-2! Every goal scored was by a different player with Vladimir Alistrov, Quinn Benjafield, Scott Atkinson and Carter Souch also picking up assists along the way. Dylan Myskiw made 39 saves doing more than his fair share of the work to earn the victory.

2019-20

The Oil Kings saw a 3-0 lead shrink to 3-2 but a three goal third period erased all doubt. Dylan Guenther led the way with 2 goals and an assist against a Seattle team that he finish his WHL career playing for. Sebastian Cossa with 28 saves in the win.

2024-25

Roan Woodward 3 Portland Winterhawks 1. But wait, there's more! Gracyn Sawchyn had two goals and an assist plus Josh Mori had himself a hat-trick as well, just with assists instead of goals. Alex Worthington with 32 in the big win.
