Roil Recollection: Oil Kings History on October 25

Hey howdy buckeroos on this country night at Rogers Place. The Oil Kings have laid the boots to a couple of their opponents over their modern history on this day including against the opponent moseying on in tonight. I reckon we should recollect!

2008-09

Down 3-1 with 8:35 remaining, Rhett Rachinski and Brenden Dowd scored for the Oil Kings to force overtime. The game ended up going to a shootout the Prince Albert Raiders won. Torrie Jung with 34 saves in the loss.

2013-14

The Oil Kings led 7-0 going into the third period over the Regina Pats when Tristan Jarry's shutout bid was broken barely a minute into that frame. Ashton Sautner led the offensive charge with two goals and an assist. Reid Petryk had the "Gordie Howe hat-trick" which is a goal, assist and a fight. Aaron Irving snagged a pair of assists.

2014-15

A 21 shot, 3 goal second period propelled the Oil Kings to a 5-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars. Two third period goals, 27 seconds apart, by Luke Bertolucci served as icing on the cake. Both Luke's goals were assisted by Cole Benson. Edgars Kulda and Dysin Mayo each had a goal and an assist. Tristan Jarry finished with 27 saves.

2016-17

A Tuesday night in Edmonton saw the Oil Kings fire 45 shots on net...and lose. The visiting Wheat Kings scored on two of their four first period shots and three of their seven third period shots. Kole Gable scored what ended up being his final goal for Edmonton before being traded to Swift Current in early November. Trey Fix-Wolansky had a goal and an assist while Aaron Irving picked up a couple of assists.

2019-20

Riley Sawchuk scored the game opening in period one and the insurance goal in period three. Josh Williams had a powerplay, shorthanded and even strength assist. Todd Scott needed to make 42 saves for the Oil Kings to earn the victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

2024-25

Miroslav Holinka and Gavin Hodnett scored for the Oil Kings. That is all that is worth mentioning from this mess of a game.
