Roil Recollection: Oil Kings History on October 19

The Oil Kings are in Saskatoon today wrapping up their weekend stay in the province of Saskatchewan. This day in the Club's modern day history includes a pair of win against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Let's add another win in that province shall we?! Let's recollect!

2007-08

Ten games into their inaugural season was the first time the Oil Kings ever played the Calgary Hitmen. You would have that it would have been sooner than that right? Calgary jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat Edmonton 4-2. Robin Figren had a goal and an assist for the Oil Kings.

2008-09

The accursed Calgary Hitmen once again defeated the Oil Kings on this calendar date. Tomas Vincour and Logan Proulx scored the Oil Kings goals.

2010-11

Jordan Hickmott tied the game at one at the 14:13 mark of the first period. The game stayed tied until the third period when Kootenay scored three unanswered goals.

2011-12

Twice in the '11-12 season Griffin Reinhart scored two goals in a game, this was the first such occassion. Edmonton outshot Moose Jaw 42-18 in the game. Laurent Brossoit with 17 saves in the win.

2012-13

Moose Jaw again? Don't mind if we do! Michael St. Croix with the first of his three hat-tricks in the '12-13 season paced the Oil Kings to 5-1 win. The Warriors outshot Edmonton 14-2 in the final frame but Tristan Jarry was not letting this game slip away.

2013-14

The second time playing Kootenay on this calendar date was a much closer game but still a loss. The Ice scoring three powerplay goals is not ideal. Henrik Samuelsson had tied the game mid-way through the third period until a powerplay goal against decided the outcome.

2018-19

Brandon Hagel 4 Edmonton Oil Kings 2. The then Rebel now Tampa Bay Lightning player had himself a night in Edmonton. The Oil Kings powerplay contributed the two goals via Jake Neighbours and Trey-Fix Wolansky. Edmonton fired 43 shots on net in the loss.
