It's Wednesday, you know what that means! Welcome to another edition of the Edmonton Sports Update featuring a non-NHL look at sports news in the Capital City and suburbs...and folks things are happening!
AJHL, BCHL Controversy
"The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) has announced that it has come to terms with five Alberta-based teams to join the league for the 2024-25 season.
The teams that have committed to terms include, the Blackfalds Bulldogs, Brooks Bandits, Okotoks Oilers, Sherwood Park Crusaders and Spruce Grove Saints." LINK
If the pattern of having the five departing teams only play against each other continues, one can predict the Crusaders game in Olds on Friday and the Saints game at Bonnyville on Friday and vs Lloydminster on Saturday will also be canceled. Keep your eyes and ears open on this developing situation.
Edmonton Oil Kings
The Oil Kings won one of three games on their recent homestand but each game scored during their Popeye's Chicken Minute sending fans home with free chicken. Losing with style amirite?
The Oil Kings play in Red Deer Friday night before returning to Rogers Place on Sunday to host the Brandon Wheat Kings. With tickets only $20 and kids combos for under $10, if somehow and some way you have not been inside Rogers Place yet or in a while, this is your best option.
