One year anniversary of epic fundraiser
On May 13, 2023 a stalwart of the wrestling community tested all his abilities and capabilities for the sake of charity. Michael Richard Blais (MRB) wrestled for 8 consecutive hours and raised over $10,000 for the Children's Stollery. The humble man he is, he had to adjust his goal higher multiple times as the support for his project blew him away. His wrestling characters tend to be "heel" (bad guy) but the human is outstanding.
"God's gift to wrestling" MRB gives back to wrestling as a teacher at the Clandestine Wrestling Society (CWS). If you ever dreamed of entering the sacred world of the squared circle, send a message to clandestinewrestlingsociety@gmail.com.
You can see MRB and all the CWS trainers and trainees on May 30th and May 31st at The Rec Room South Edmonton Common. If you cannot make it this month, they take over The Rec Room every last Thursday and Friday of the month.
Elks Fan Day
Better than Saturday morning cartoons from the '80's, this Saturday is Elks Fan Day. For many fans, it's a chance to see gameday buddies for the first time in 2024. For some fans it's all about seeing new and old players back on the field.
The lineup for the event offers something for everyone. The tailgate has moved, find out exactly where. Fire truck photos are cool whether you are 5 or 75 years old. Keeping your young ones entertained promises to be easy with the addition of a dunk tank. Radio row gives you a chance to meet the voices you have been listening to and relying on for information about Club. See you there!
Edmonton Stingers Find Local Streaming Partner
It use to be listening to sports broadcasts on the radio with iconic voices like Rod Phillips and Bryan Hall. It's become listening to streams through your phone or computer because who owns radios anymore? Very happy that Edmonton Sports Talk has brought the clear listening option of Stingers Basketball back to fans of the team and the league.
On a different note, the Stingers are holding their season member reception next Wednesday. A meet and greet with the Club providing the first opportunity to meet big rookie free agent signing Ben Krikke. It is okay to have a favourite even before they step on a CEBL court right?
