Game night for our Oil Kings tonight but how have our young lads fared through the modern day history of the Club? A hat-trick and a line brawl (including goalies) headline the chat. Let's recollect!
2008-09 OIL KINGS WIN!

A Wednesday night in Saskatoon presented a very tidy scoresheet. The teams alternated scoring a pair of goals in a period with the important detail being the Oil Kings got the extra period of goals. Craig McCallum and Tomas Vincour had multipoint nights but the story was goaltender Cam Lanigan. 41 shots faced, 39 saves and a well deserved "first star" of the game.
2010-11 OIL KINGS WIN!

The only two goal night of Cameron Abney's career happened on this night in Regina. 5 other Oil Kings put their name on the scoresheet. With 20 seconds remaining in the second period, goaltender Cam Lanigan got into a fight and received a game misconduct as a part of the chaos that was a line brawl. Up 5-2 heading into the final period, the Oil Kings kept the pressure on outshooting the Pats 16-7 scoring two more goals.
2011-12

Statiscally this night made no sense. The Oil Kings outshot the Medicine Hat Tigers 46-27. Medicine Hat was the team that had 9 powerplays compared to Edmonton's 1. The Oil Kings led 3-0 after 38 minutes of play. The Tigers won in a shootout.
2016-17

This game was the WHL debut for Liam Hughes. Hughes only played the one season with Edmonton and this was not his one win, albeit it was one of his overtime losses. Down 2-0, Davis Koch and Jesse Roach brought Edmonton back to even. Moose Jaw outshot Edmonton 43-30.
2017-18 OIL KINGS WIN

Friday in Edmonton, Saturday in Lethbridge and this game on Sunday in Kootenay. Trey Fix-Wolansky opened the scoring but the Oil Kings were still down 2-1 after one period. Outshot the Ice 16-3 in the second period, potted three goals, held on for the victory. Travis Child's 21 saves was deemed impressive enough to earn the Oil Kings goaltender "first spot".
2021-22 OIL KINGS WIN

Goaltender Sebastian Cossa collected an assist on the Oil Kings second goal of the game. That goal by Jacob Boucher stood as the season/home opener game winning goal. Cossa held onto the shoutout until only 3:24 remained in the game. The other three goals were all scored by Josh Williams and assisted by Jakub Demek.
2022-23
Cole Carrier fought Prince Albert's Terrell Goldsmith 34 seconds into the game. Goalie Alex Worthington was pulled 9:52 into the first period after being beat for the three goals. Worthington returned for the second period with the team down 4-0. Rookie Marshall Finnie scored a shorthanded goal in the second period to ensure the Club would not be shutout.
2023-24 OIL KINGS WIN

A 5-1 lead after two periods may have given the Oil Kings a false sense of security at home versus Lethbridge. Rookie Adam Jecho's second goal of the game was supposed to stop the Hurricanes momentum in the third but they responded a mere 23 seconds later. Marc Lajoie scored an empty net goal only to have the stubborn Hurricanes respond only 11 seconds later. The 8 goals stood as the highest single game total the entire season.
