The modern day Oil Kings own two wins on this day against both the Swift Current Broncos and the Calgary Hitmen. The Club has only lost once on this date, shame they do not play today eh? The term "hat-trick", which no longer is really hockey specific, is used three times but only once for goals. Let's recollect.

2007-08

Oil Kings goaltender Alex Archibald absolutely stole this game for the Oil Kings. His team was outshot literally by double, six saves in the sudden death overtime it's a sin he did not earn a "star" of the game. Cameron Cepak tied the game in the third period. Brent Henke scored the eventual shootout winner.

2012-13

Another win in Swift Current, this time round a much closer shot differential. Kudos to the penalty kill going a perfect 7-for-7. Michael St. Croix scored the winning goal. Laurent Brossoit made 27 saves.

2013-14

Calgary lead after one period then were outscored 3-0 and outshot 20-8 as the Oil Kings doubled them up on the scoreboard and shot clock (almost!). Curtis Lazar scored the winner. Brett Pollock had a goal and an assist.

2018-19

The third meeting on this calendar day between the Oil Kings and Broncos ended exactly opposite of their first two encounters. The Oil Kings dominated the shot clock 45-20 but lost 4-3 in overtime. Brett Kemp had a goal and an assist. Trey Fix-Wolansky had the hat-trick of assists.

2019-20

David Kope scored with 55 seconds remaining to send Saddledome fans home sad. Thank you David! And thank you Todd Scott for a 38 save performance enabling the Oil Kings win.

2023-24

Skyler Bruce with the traditional hat-trick. Gavin Hodnett with the assist hat-trick. Oil Kings defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-5 after falling behind 2-0 only 6:52 into the game.
