Roil Recollection: Oil Kings History on November 2

On this date in Oil Kings modern history the team has struggled to maintain early game leads. There is a dominant shutout performance against the Lethbridge Hurricanes to chat about. F Cancer! Let's recollect!

2008-09

A field trip to Kelowna was not fun. Despiite Craig McCallum opening the scoring and Jesse Pearson giving the Oil Kings a 2-1 lead, this went down as a 5-2 loss. This was Pearson's only goal in his 53 game WHL career.

2012-13

Henrik Samuelsson and Dylan Wruck gave the visiting Oil Kings a 2-0 lead over the Prince Albert Raiders after one period. Despite outshooting PA 28-20 over the last two frames, the Raiders took the game 3-2.

2014-15

Brandon Baddock scored with 5:55 remaining to break the shutout bid by the Portland Winterhawks. The Oil Kings outshot Portland 13-1 in that period to avoid the goose egg.

2016-17

The Oil Kings had a 4-0 lead headed into the third period. Aaron Irving won the game in overtime for Edmonton. Patrick Dea finished with 32 saves in the win.

2017-18

Jantzen Leslie scored his only career WHL goal for the Oil Kings. It was the only goal scored by Edmonton. Boston Bilous with 16 saves in the loss.

2018-19

The Oil Kings scored the first 5 goals of the game winning 5-1. Brett Kemp scored 40% of the goals and added an assist. Trey Fix-Wolansky with assists on four consecutive goals.

2021-22

Simon Kubicek scored the first two goals for the Oil Kings which was more than enough to defeat the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Dylan Guenther and Josh Williams each had a goal and an assist. Luke Prokop and Carter Souch each had a pair of assists. Sebastian Cossa with the 28 save shutout.

2024-25

The Wenatchee Wild scored a touchdown. The Oil Kings scored a field goal. I wish our local CFL team was in the playoffs. Gracyn Sawchyn scored his 8th of the season in the contest.
