Edmonton Sports Update: More Than Just Oil

Why yes, the local NHL Club does play two home games this upcoming weekend. Heck no that that's the end-all and be-all of the Edmonton Sports scene. Here's an update on a few other options and happenings in Edmonton and vicinity.

Friday night the Sherwood Park Crusaders, currently ranked 9th in the CJHL, return home to the Sherwood Park Arena. Mythic Comics and Collectibles will be in their lobby to help with stocking stuffers.

Saturday night you have the option of the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints or the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings. Both Clubs are running special promo nights, go support your favourite!

Edmonton is more than just about the NHL, wrestling is more than just the WWE and AEW. Independent wrestling has a growing place in the Edmonton Sports scene as it is full of "Top Talent".

Wrestling live hits differently than watching it on television. You need not know the names on the card to enjoy the performances being put on in the ring. Allow yourself to enjoy the cinema that is wrestling.

The Edmonton Sports scene has an exciting option coming this weekend. Check out the Big Air World Cup! It's soo new you'll need to click the link for full details. Here's a snippet:

"The Style Experience FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup showcases some of the best snowboarders as they take on the world’s largest scaffolding jump judged on creativity and style over rotations."

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) has been a part of the Edmonton sports scene long before (and now long after) the Edmonton Rush brought the National Lacrosse League (NLL) to the Capital City.

Local teams represented from the above screenshot are the Beaumont Outlaws (Wengreniuk) and the Edmonton Miners (Triolo, Lintz, Bowen, Smith).

Summer 2023 saw League1 Alberta run an "exhibition series". The League is returning and coming back stronger:

"The Alberta Soccer Association confirmed today that League1 Alberta, the province’s PRO-AM Soccer League for Men and Women, will return in 2024, and also confirmed the teams that will take part in its Men’s and Women’s Divisions when play kicks off in May 2024."

Edmonton and vicinity, your fandom options are BTB Soccer, Edmonton Scottish United, and the St. Albert Impact. Each organization runs a Mens and a Womens Club.
