First Edmonton Sports Events of 2024:
Let's note that on December 19th, the Saints and Spruce Grove made this exciting announcement: "The City of Spruce Grove and the Spruce Grove Saints are thrilled to announce they have reached an agreement in principle for the Junior “A” hockey club to remain in Spruce Grove and play out of the spectator arena which is currently under construction as part of the Civic Centre project."
The Saints play tonight at the Grant Fuhr Arena. Friday night they host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
If you happen to be an Oil Barons fan, you are in luck as they are in Sherwood Park on Saturday to face the top ten nationally ranked Crusaders.
The Crusaders will be welcoming back Goaltender Erick Roest, defenceman Dominic Payne, and forwards Ryan Zaremba, Diego Johnson, and Brock Souch after the quintet helped Canada West win Gold in the World Jr A Challenge.
The Edmonton Oil Kings are on the road until January 11th. Their promotional calendar for the month of January stands to be legendary as they are saluting "the King of Rock'n'Roll" and featuring talents from "Love Pro Wrestling"!
Cool Story
August Music Trifecta
The Riverhawks are hosting a "Swiftie Party". The next week Metallica plays Edmonton. Pink completes the trifecta a week later. Ask yourself how many songs from these artists you hear at sporting events? That's why it's okay to include it in a January edition of the Edmonton Sports Update.
New Years Events on Shotgun Sports Network
Mike Dandrea steps out of the "Penalty Box" and begins season one of the "Winnipeg Hangar". This will be followed by the Season Two premiere of the Elks Call and it all begins on January 10th.
