The Edmonton Oil Kings record on this day in their modern day history is 4-1. The one loss against the team that defeated the Oil Kings last night in Calgary; the Oil Kings have defeated the Hitmen on this day in history. Three different goaltenders carried shutouts into the third period, only one put the tally in that category. Let's recollect!
2008-09

This game had "scheduled loss" written all over it. The third game of a three games in three nights stretch that had the Oil Kings travelling from Red Deer, Alberta to Cranbrook, B.C..
The Club never managed more than six shots in a period yet they won 2-1. Brent Raedeke scored the game winning goal on the powerplay at 9:07 of the third period making it 2-1. Cam Lanigan made 25 saves.
2011-12

You can't spell Wednesday with the W! 3 goals on 18 shots was a heckuva way to start the hockey game. 4 different goal scorers staked the Oil Kings to a 4-0 lead in Prince Albert. Laurent Brossoit's shutout bid was spoiled midway through the third period. Curse you Justin Maylan.
2012-13
Of course the one loss on this day in history is against the accursed Calgary Hitmen. T.J. Foster scored a goal late in the second period to bring the game to within one goal but a goal 28 seconds into the third period by the opponents doomed the result. Laurent Brossoit made 30 saves in the loss.
2018-19

The 3-0 Oil Kings hosted the Swift Current Broncos and uttlerly dominated them! The Broncos finished with 15 shots on net whilst Edmonton had 21 in the second period alone! Boston Bilous collected his shutout while watching his teammates fire 47 shots at the opposition.
Vince Loshiavo scored twice and had an assist. Trey Fix-Wolansky collected three helpers. 4,467 Rogers Place patrons went home extremely happy.
2024-25

First home game of the season equals first win of the season. Gavin Hodnett and Adam Jecho scored in the first period to give the Oil Kings the lead. A lead that was threatened with an early third period goal by the Calgary Hitmen but Miroslav Holinka re-established the two goal at the 6:24 mark. GoaltenderAlex Worthington entered that final frame with 24 saves already made and finished with 33 saves for the win.
