The Edmonton Oil Kings are on a 5-game losing streak on this date in their modern day history. This despite a natural hat-trick and some great individual periods. Let's recollect!
2009-10 VICTORY

"Three Stars" of the game were all Edmonton Oil Kings. The inexact science of this facet of the game was on display here as both the road team goals were scored by the same player but home team swept the stars. No Oil King had multiple points and goaltenders getting first star selections should be reserved for one or less goals against.
2013-14

Mitchell Moroz scored a natural hat-trick in two minutes and thirty two seconds. This brought the Oil Kings back from being down 3-0. Brandon scored a late period powerplay to regain the lead. All 7 goals in this game were scored in the second period. All four of the Wheat Kings goals were on the powerplay.
2015-16
Oil Kings goaltender Patrick Dea was asked to make 17 first period saves. After Kelowna opened the scoring in the second period on the powerplay, the Oil Kings special teams took over the game. A powerplay and shorthanded goal by Lane Bauer plus a powerplay goal by Brandon Baddock staked Edmonton to a 3-1 lead after two periods. Unforetunately the Rockets won the third period on score clock and therfore won the game.
2016-17
Tyler Robertson and Colton Kehler scored in the first period giving the Oil Kings a 2-1 lead. Despite outshooting the Prince Albert Raiders 26-21 over the final two frames, the final four goals of the game went to the team in green.
2019-20
A Wednesday night in Swift Current ended the wrong way in overtime. Carter Souch twice scored the game tying goal but it was not even enough to earn him a "three stars" nomination. Todd Scott made 25 saves in the loss.
2021-22
This was the road half of the traditional home-and-home season opening series with Red Deer. After defeating them 4-1 on Friday, the Oil Kings were defeated 4-1 on this Saturday. The lone Oil Kings tally was by Jakub Demek on the powerplay. Edmonton did fire 18 third period shots trying to rally back in the game but it was not meant to be.
