Roil Recollection: Oil Kings History on November 4

Today is seven weeks until Christmas Eve Eve. A weird statement like that suggests that while this day has good outings for the Oil Kings there no real presents wrapped up in the story. Let's recollect!

2007-08

When we have come across games the Oil Kings get shut out, the distraction is NHL players on the opposing teams. The Prince Albert Raiders did not have on their roster for this game. So the only distraction from a four goal loss is squirrel!

2008-09

Well here we are looking for distractions after a poor showing by the Oil Kings. The Seattle Thunderbirds had Thomas Hickey on their roster. Hickey went on to play with the New York Islanders. Calvin Pickard, current Oiler, was the starting goaltender for this game lining up against one day Oiler Torrie Jung. Of course the Oil Kings had future NHL'ers Mark Pysyk and Tomas Vincour on their roster.

2009-10

For the first time in their modern day history on this the Oil Kings had a lead! Michael St. Croix scored just over three minutes into the second period to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead over Calgary. A lead that melted away in the 1:34 of the game.

2015-16

A win! Brandon Baddock scored the final two goals of the game giving Edmonton a 4-2 win over Seattle. Patrick Dea with 28 saves in the victory.

2016-17

A Davis Koch powerplay sent this game in Moose Jaw tied at one into the final period. The Oil Kings outshot the Warriors 17-9 in that period but were outscored by two.

2017-18

Trey Fix-Wolansky scored 14 seconds into the second period to cut the Blades lead to 2-1. Tomas Soustal scored 27 seconds into the third period to tie the game. Saskatoon scored with 10 seconds remaining to win the game. Boston Bilous with 25 saves in the effort that came up just short.

2022-23

Unassisted goals by Dawson Seitz and Luca Hauf gave Edmonton a two goal lead. Carson Golder re-established the two goal lead before Victoria came back to tie the game forcing overtime. Rhett Melynk was your overtime hero! Kolby Hay with 29 saves!
