Meet the Huntsville Havoc: Ethan Lindsay Is Built for the Moment

On game nights in Huntsville, Ethan Lindsay begins getting ready long before the puck drops. Tape. Skates. A game of “keep the ball up” with his teammates. Lindsay is dialed in before he ever touches the ice, and it shows.

As a rookie in the SPHL, he is already making a name for himself.

Lindsay says, “I have been loving my time in Hunstville, I feel very blessed that this city is my first experience in professional hockey. Growing up I always had the aspiration to get to the next level and play pro hockey, and this year has been everything I could have ever dreamed of and more. The quality of hockey is definitely a step up from College, but I feel that I have adjusted pretty well to the style in the SP.”

Adjusted well is an understatement, Lindsay is a dependable, two-way contributor who brings physicality, generates offense consistently, and delivers in clutch situations. He isn’t the kind of player who waits for the game to come to him. He hunts it. Every shift is pressure—on the forecheck, along the boards, and in the hard areas where plays are won before they ever show up on the scoresheet.

This can be seen reflected clearly by his stats. He’s played 30 games, recording 15 points with 7 goals and 8 assists. Lindsay never gives up an opportunity to take the shot, firing at the goal 84 times this season, averaging 3 shots per game. Among his goals scored 2 were power play goals and 3 were game winning goals, showing that Lindsay is valuable in key moments on the ice.

He’s known amongst fans for his zero-tolerance,  physical style of play. With 46 minutes spent in the penalty box this year, Lindsay sports a signature exit from the ice.

When asked about his favorite moment from this season he stated, “I think when I gave the signature kiss for the first time. I’ve never heard that kind of noise from the fans before and that gave me goosebumps going to the penalty box. Definitely a welcome to pro hockey moment for myself.”

An Open Book for the Fans

Ask Lindsay about himself and he’s willing to allow the fans to get to know him.

“Well I’m a pretty open book,” he admits, “but I guess I can give a shoutout to Jesus and proclaim my faith as a proud Christian.”

He speaks about his faith not as a slogan, but as a foundation—something that keeps him grounded through the highs and lows of a long season. For Lindsay, sharing that part of himself is simply another way to connect with fans, hoping they see the person behind the jersey just as clearly as the player competing every night.

A Fan Favorite in the Making

Havoc fans have noticed. The energy spikes when Lindsay finishes a check or wins a battle along the wall. It’s the kind of effort that translates directly to the stands.

“The fans definitely bring the energy and play a bigger role than they may realize. ,” he says. “We definitely feed off their intensity. We’re very fortunate to have the best fans in the league on our side.”

Eyes Forward

With the season moving into its most demanding stretch, Lindsay’s focus remains unchanged. He wants to do his best for Havoc fans on and off the ice.

“I think my top goal for my career is to make a positive impact wherever I am., “ he says, “Whether that’s on the ice or in the community, I want to make a difference and bring smiles to people’s faces.”

And for the Huntsville Havoc, that’s exactly the kind of mindset that has thousands of fans packing into arenas every weekend. For the community, by the community.

  3. Thanks for the insight on a great team and a new and rising star. Great to feel more connected to the team and what they are doing. Look forward to the next article.

  4. As a fan of the team and a lover of comic book style hero lore I have to say this appealed to me on the level of reading one of my favorite comic book series. The gritty hero rising up and giving his all to the masses has a way of inspiring in person and this made me feel like I was ring side.
