Edmonton Sports Update: Happenings outside the NHL

Twas the weekend before Christmas, when all through the Capital City, so many sporting events to attend, even if the roads are gritty. Santa (probably) reads the Edmonton Sports Update because he knows this is where to get your fill of weekend non-NHL happenings.

The Spruce Grove Saints finish out their pre-Christmas schedule with a 3-game road trip. The first game being in Sherwood Park against the Crusaders on Saturday. 

The Crusaders play their final pre-Christmas game on Sunday afternoon hosting the Drayton Valley Thunder. Ugly Christmas sweaters and a post-skate are the scheduled festivities. 

The Edmonton Oil Kings play Friday hosting Swift Current and Sunday hosting the Connor Bedard-less Regina Pats. That will be the last time the Oil Kings are on home ice until January 11th.

Real Canadian Wrestling (RCW) finish off their 20th year of operation with "Holiday Havoc" on Friday.

On July 4th of 2020, RCW were the first to re-open their doors to the public. That's when this wrestling fan discovered them. Discover them for yourselves on Friday.

You know what made watching a not good football team fun? The revelation of pregame tailgating at Commonwealth (and watching it evolve and grow throughout the season). Or maybe it was just the boozy cupcakes by Jannelle.

The camaraderie between strangers and acquaintances that only sports can bring is being celebrated here. Bring snacks!

The Edmonton Riverhawks may have fell short on their facetious chase of Shohei Ohtani but there's another megastar they will be paying homage to this upcoming August.

Pre-sales began yesterday. On Friday general sales begin. Stay out of trouble this Christmas and get your "Swiftie" a ticket.

The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) proudly promotes their players who play overseas during the offseason. Two of those players are on your Edmonton Stingers.

Arguably the most famous former Stingers player is Xavier Moon. Moon is on the NBA roster of the Los Angeles Clippers.
