The HCFC dominated with a statement performance earning a win against Chattanooga on Saturday night in front of an energized crowd at Wicks Family Field. Beyond the result on the field the home opener highlighted something just as significant, the atmosphere inside Wicks Family Field.

The HCFC Bring More Than Just Steller Performances on the Field.
You can’t talk about an HCFC match without talking about the amazing atmosphere this club has built with their fan base. It starts before kickoff ever happens. Wicks Family Field holds true to its name, a family friendly environment.

Kids kicked around a ball or played connect four in an area designed just for them. In addition, this area features a J-2X rocket engine that emits smoke pregame and after every goal.
The entertainment never stops with the HCFC, during half time fans were able to enjoy music performed by Taylor Grace and a live guitar riff by Jeff Mello. From kickoff, the crowd carried a steady buzz. Supporters of both teams set the tone with coordinated chants and drumlines, creating a consistent backdrop that elevated key moments without overpowering the match.
When asked about the Chattahooligans, Chattanooga’s fan brigade, appearance at the field goaltender Will Mackay says, “Yeah, they were talking the whole game, drumming, it only adds to the environment, you know, it helps us. It makes the game matter even more.”

It wasn’t just the away teams’ fans who brought the energy, with over 3,600 HCFC fans, including a brigade of our own, at the match the excitement radiated from all sides.
Head coach O’Neal commented, “With the first three games all away its always very difficult. Then you get back here and have fans, I think it’s a new experience for a lot of these guys. Them actually being here, we can talk about it all we want, but them actually being here, feeling the energy, and feeling everything from the crowd helps you find that extra gear.”
The Cosmic Goats Dominate the Field with a Win at Home
The match carried the intensity expect from regional rival team, both sides pressed in early looking to dictate tempo. Chattanooga tested Huntsville’s back lines early forcing a pair of saves and applying pressure through quick transitions.

Huntsville found the momentum fifteen minutes into the match with Abdul Shakur Mohammed, assisted by Nick Pariano and Malachi Molina, scoring the first goal of the game.
Huntsville did not let up. Late in the first half Maximus Ekk, assisted by Malachi Molina and Abdul Shakur Mohammed, bring the score to 2-0. Chattanooga answered shortly after with a goal from Alexander Krehl, assisted by Yves Tcheuyap and Tate Robertson.

Chattanooga came back from halftime with a more aggressive approach, pushing numbers forward attempting to create opportunities. Huntsville answered their play style maintaining composure, keeping control through disciplined play in the midfield, timely defending, and outstanding goaltending.
Coach O’Neal commented, “Tonight we were better with our tactical approach, keeping the backline intact and being able to sniff out opportunities. In the second half they had more of the momentum, but we were able to push a lot of guys very high with the threat of being able to go long. It really was just being able to keep that backline intact.”
Defensively throughout the second period Huntsville showed resilience down the stretch, limiting Chattanooga’s chances. Late in the second Chattanooga scores on a penalty kick by Tate Robertson bringing the match to a tie.
The Shootout that Brought the Entire Crowd to Their Feet
With no separation after regulation, the match moved into a shootout. Huntsville’s shooters converted with confidence, placing their kicks with precision under pressure against Chattanooga’s goaltender. On the other side of the shootout Will Mackay, the Goaltender for Huntsville, proved pivotal, turning aside two of the four attempts made by Chattanooga.
The fourth kick attempt from Chattanooga would decide the match. Mackay, having already turned away one of their attempts, set his feet and faced down what could be their final kicker.

Huntsville having already made four successful attempts would win if the fourth attempt by Chattanooga was blocked. The kicker comes in attempting a right footed shot, but Mackay is ready with a game winning stop on his birthday.
Will Mackay commented on the feeling after making the game winning save on his 18th birthday, “It feels awesome, its just an electric environment. We are so thankful for everybody that comes out and supports the team but just to do it in front of the home fans its always special.”
This result highlighted Huntsville’s poise in pressure moments, a characteristic that will carry significance as the season progresses. In a match where margins became very thin late in the second half Huntsville found a way to execute when it mattered most.

A Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Will Mackay from Shotgun Sports Network.
