Single digits until the regular season begins. The number 9 starts with a couple attempts at NHL rosters then goes through a bit of a rotating door that calmed down during the '20s. The number has a tie to one of the biggest trades of the '20's. Let's recollect!
2007-08 to 2009-10

Of all the inaugural Oil Kings rookie Brent Raedeke is the only one to play all 72 games that season. His very first point was an assist on the game winning goal with one second remaining in the franchise opener. 4 games and 3 points into his sophomore season, Raedeke sign a 3-year entry level deal with the Detroit Red Wings. He was the Oil Kings leading scorer in 2009-10 when he got traded to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Raedeke was an assistant captain his final season with Edmonton.
2009-10 to 2012-13

Klarc Wilson was the return in the Raedeke trade and he took his number 9. He racked up over a hundred penalty in both his full seasons with the Oil Kings being traded to Prince George mid-way through the 2012-13 season. Wilson attended training camps for the Winnipeg Jets in 2011-12 and New York Rangers in 2013-14.

2022-23

Acquired the day after Golder left, Nathan Pilling contributed 3 goals in 12 games. A year later, now wearing number 55, Pilling was involved in the trade that gave us the Sawchyn brothers.
203-24 & 2024-25
Roan Woodward will be playing for the Victoria Royals this upcoming season and will be missed. His two years in Edmonton were streaky as a point getter. Woodward would put up points in four consecutive games then be held off the scoresheet for four. In 2025 Roan had multiple streaks of five consecutive games with points but saw multiple cold snaps of equal length.
