A Lowe number of days remain before the regular season returns. This number has a bit of everything. Some sad, a lot of expectations being met and a Warm, fuzzy feeling. Let's recollect!
2007-08

Matthew Swaby played his senior WHL year with the inaugural Oil Kings. His work ethic and leadership skills had the Club put the C on his chest after the original captain was traded at the deadline. On November 27th, 2021 the Oil Kings announced "the tragic passing" of Swaby. He was only 34 years old.
2008-09
Kieran Friesen played 25 games for the Oil Kings during the course of the season. Friesen would not play again in the WHL until the 10-11 season for Everett.
2009-10 through 2012-13

Your last name is Lowe and you choose to wear your fathers old Oilers number, the expectations on Keegan were sky high. It is fair to say he achieved these heights claiming the 2012-13 Oil Kings MVP Award as well as the Club's Top Defenceman Award. Wearing an assitants 'A' on his sweater that senior year he also set the single season record for penalty minutes by a defenseman with 148 that parlayed into the Club record for most penalty mintues by a defenseman for their career.
The 2011 third round draft of the Carolina Hurricanes, Lowe played two games for the Club in '14-15 and collected 10 penalty minutes. Keegan returned to Edmonton in '17-18 playing two games as an Oiler.
2013-14 and 2014-15

When the calendar turned to 2014 the Oil Kings acquired Blake Orban from Vancouver as a steadying depth piece for a team with Memorial Cup aspirations (which of course were achieved). His senior year he was the oldest player on the team and would wear the 'A' on his chest on select games.
2016-17 through 2018-19

"(Will) Warm was the recipient of the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy as the 2019 WHL Humanitarian of the Year award for his work in the Greater Edmonton Community, highlighted by his time spent with the Ronald McDonald House as a part of his Will Warms the Community initiative." (full story here) No hockey stat is as awesome as the previous statement but one still must mention that Warm won the Oil Kings Award for Top Defenseman in his rookie season.
2020-21, part of 2021-22

Ross Stanley played three games for the Oil Kings in '21-22 then was traded to Prince Albert. He finished with 21 games in Oil Kings colours.
2021-22

Widely regarded as one of the top defenceman and players in the WHL at the time, the acquistion of Kaiden Guhle signaled the Oil Kings believing they could win the WHL Championship. They did. Guhle averaged a point per game during the regular season finishing with 25. The senior was playing in only his second WHL playoffs but the pressure did not faze as he tacked on 16 points in 19 games. His 8 goals during that playoff run still stands as the playoff record for goals by a defenceman for the Club.
2022-23 to current

Rhys Pederson heads into his fourth season with the Oil Kings. 22 points in a 144 career games, he is the current active leader for games played by a defenseman.
