18 days away from the beginning of season 18. Oil Kings Roil Recollection articles are quick and fun looks through the modern day Club history. Today's focus is on who has worn the number 18. This number features one of the statistical best all-time forwards and a couple of players finishing out their WHL careers on high notes.
2007-08 Karey Pieper
Pieper played his final WHL season for the expansion Oil Kings scoring a goal and an assist in game two of franchise history. He accomplished that feat twice more during season and finished with a total of 13 points.
2008-09 to 2012-13 Michael St. Croix

The New York Rangers 4th round draft pick in 2011, Michael St. Croix's career stat line with Oil Kings is still the best to do ever do it for Edmonton. 128 goals, 192 assists, 320 points, all of them standing career record totals for the franchise. 2011-12 was his best season smashing through the 100-point plateau with still standing single season team records of 45 goals and 105 points. His name may not be on any playoff records for the Club but St. Croix maintained a point per game pace during the playoffs with 46 points in 46 games.
2013-14 Reid Petryk
The Edmontonian came to the Oil Kings in time for week two of this regular season. The senior finished off his WHL career with his best statistical season in goals (17) and assists (39). Petryk added nine points during the playoffs.
2014-15 to 2017-18 Kobe Mohr

Selected in the first round of the 2014 Bantam draft, Mohr played a total of 175 games for the Oil Kings. He finished with 64 points and 163 penalty minutes.
2018-19 Vince Loschiavo

The Winnipeg native capped off his WHL career with a bang in Edmonton averaging just under a point per game in the regular season and playoffs. 15 of his 37 regular season goals and 4 of his 7 playoffs goal were on the powerplay.
2021-22 Ben Wright
The 6'3.5", 204 pounder wore the number 18 for the seven games he appeared in. Wright changed his number the next season.
2022-23 Luca Hauf
The young German's rookie season in the WHL completed with 21 points in 45 games. He twice had three point nights, once in Regina and once in Calgary. Hauf was a member of the German World Championship U-20 team each year between 2022 and 2024.
2023-24 to current Luke Powell

Selected in the 4th round of the WHL, Powell got into five games in 2023-24. His one point was a goal versus Calgary. The Edmontonian earned steady playing time last season until an injury cost him most of February and March. The rookie played in 5 of the 7 Oil Kings playoff games.
