Roil Recollection: Oil Kings Number 11

No moose-ing around, we are 11 days away from the return of Edmonton Oil Kings hockey. The number 11 in Oil Kings folk lore belongs to the name Dylan. Let's recollect!

2007-08 & 2008-09

Defenseman Brandon Lockerby checks in as the first number 11 of the modern day version of the Oil Kings. Selected from the Brandon Wheat Kings in the expansion, Lockerby played two seasons in Edmonton compiling 50 points in 112 total games played. He is the answer to the trivia question, "Who scored the Oil KIngs first goal?"

2009-10 through 2012-13

Dylan Wruck played one game in 2008-09 as number 21 before spending the next four seasons in Edmonton wearing number 11. His highwater mark for goals was 38 in '10-11. His highest point total was 85 in '12-13. In the playoffs of '12-13 Dylan set the record for most assists in a postseason with 17. The German-Canadian born in Saskatoon still plays hockey in Germany.

2013-14 through 2015-16

Luke Bertolucci played his rookie season as number 17 before switching to number 11. Bertolucci scored 24 goals in 229 regular seasons and 9 times during 29 playoff games.

2016-17

Calgarian Adam Berg started off the 2017 calendar year with points in three consecutive games which stood as his hot streak for the season. Berg played his senior year in the BCHL after playing two preseason games ahead of the '17-18 season.

2017-18

A very young Oil Kings squad traded for 20-year-old Czechian Tomas Soustal on October 2nd reliant on his leadership to guide and lead. Soustal finished second in scoring with 60 points and took most of the important faceoffs throughout the season. Tomas won the team award for Unsung Hero of the Year.

2018-19 through 2022-23

Everyone's favourite Utah Mammoth player Dylan Guenther spent four seasons rocking the number 11 for the Oil Kings. His accolades are so many it is just easier to snip over his bio page from oilkings.ca

2023-24

The morning of October 20th the Oil Kings announced a season ending injury to one of their 2003-born forwards. That afternoon the Club announced their trade for 2003-born Skyler Bruce. Bruce averaged nearly a point per game during the regular season finishing with 37 points in 40 games.

2024-25

February 23rd was Jensen Marsh's only game of the season and his WHL career. Following is a snip of the 16-year-old Cochrane, Alberta native stats in AAA hockey.
