"Do you remember the 21st night of September?" Some of you sang that line, know that we appreciate you! It was over a decade before the modern day Edmonton Oil Kings played a game on this calendar date! Each of the three times the game ended in a 4-2 score. Let's recollect!
2018-19

The Red Deer Rebels provided the competition at Rogers Place to kick off the season. Despite 18 shots in the first period, the Oil Kings did not score until a powerplay opportunity early into the second period. Three minutes, six seconds after Brett Kemp opened the scoring, the "OG" Conner in Edmonton, Conner McDonald made it 2-0. Two of the four Rebels shots in the frame found the back of the net sending the game tied into the third period.
Vince Loshiavo scored the game winning goal on the powerplay and the insurance marker into the empty net for the Oil Kings. Captain Trey Fix-Wolansky finished the game with three assists. Goaltender Boston Bilous collected 20 saves and an assist in the victory.
