The Oil Kings finish their 4-game road in Medicine Hat tonight. Exactly 17 years ago, meaning it was also a Wednesday night, these two teams met but we are hoping for a different result. This day features a lot of games in which the starting goaltender gets pulled. Let's recollect!
2007-08

Three seconds into the game Bretton Stamler and Swift Current's Zack Smith got into a fight. Seven games in the modern day franchise history, the Club earned it's first victory in a shootout. The Oil Kings had taken a 2-0 lead 19 seconds into the third period but the parade to the penalty box finally caught up to them.
Alex Archibald made 32 saves in regulation plus 4 more in the shootout to earn the win. Brenden Dowd scored the shootout winner.
2008-09
Brett Breikreuz's back-to-back goals in the first period briefly gave the Oil Kings a 2-1 lead. A Jeff Lee powerplay goal in the second frame gave the Oil Kings a 4-3 lead for exactly 34 seconds.
Starting goalie Cam Lanigan was pulled after Medicine Hat tied the game at 4 having made only 6 saves. Dalyn Flette stopped 15 of 16 shots but the one that got past him stood as the game winner.
2011-12
A trip to Saskatoon was a forgettable one for Laurent Brossoit as he was pulled after two periods with four goals against and only 13 saves. Tristan Jarry stopped 7 of the 8 shots he faced in a chippy third period that had multiple fights and misconducts. The lone Oil King goal was scored by Stephane Legault.
2017-18

Brett Kemp's goal 1:28 into the third period made it 4-0 for Edmonton and ended the night for Everett's starting goaltender. Trey Fix-Wolansky finished the evening with two goals and an assist. Josh Dechaine made 22 saves in the 5-1 win.
2019-20

A Tuesday night in Regina started ominously with the Pats scoring 3 goals on 11 shots to take a 3-0 lead after one. Todd Scott relieved Sebastian Cossa in net and put up a shutout in his two periods facing only 7 shots. Ethan McIndoe scored the eventual game winner for the Oil Kings who scored five unanswered goals to win the game.
2021-22

A successful trip to Swift Current spearheaded by Sebastian Cossa's 23 saves. Jacob Boucher and Simon Kubicek scored for the Oil Kings.
2022-23
This was one of goalie Alex Worthington's four starts this season. He was not worthy on this night as the Tri-City scored on 6 of the 24 shots they directed his way. You can correctly imply that the Oil Kings did not win this road game.
