Twas the Oil Kings 6th season before they played a game on October 6th. The Club has a .500 record on this day. Let's recollect!
2012-13 VICTORY

Laurent Brossoit assisted on the first two Oil Kings goals and only allowed one goal against during this home victory versus the Saskatoon Blades. Michael St. Croix (1 goal and 1 assist) and Henrik Samuelsson (2 points) matched their goaltenders offensive output.
This was the early beginnings of the final season in Edmonton for Brossoit (as an Oil King) and St. Croix.
2017-18
Travis Child allowed 3 goals on 9 shots in the opening period to the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings. Powerplay goals by Nick Bowman and Davis Koch helped the Oil Kings close the gap to two but Brandon lead from wire-to-wire.
The 7 goals by Brandon were tied for second for most goals allowed at home by Edmonton. This would happen four times throughout the course of this season.
2018-19
If you are going to trade goals with your opponent, make sure you score first. A trip to Spokane saw Brett Kemp and Trey Fix-Wolansky each tie the game but the Chiefs prevailed 3-2. Dylan Myskiw made 29 saves in the losing effort.
Fix-Wolansky also collected an assist in this game. He finished the season with 65 which stills stands as the Oil Kings record for assists by a forward in a season. This was his final season in the WHL.
2021-22 WIN

With one second remaining in the second period, whilst shorthanded, Jaylen Lupen opened the scoring for the Oil Kings. With 2:18 remaining, Logan Dowhaniuk scored the eventual game winner for Edmonton. Sebastian Cossa gathered 23 saves for the win.
This was Cossa's final season in the WHL. His career totals qualify him as the Oil Kings leading goaltender in goals against average (2.12) and save percentage (.921). Cossa plays for the Detriot Red Wings AHL affiliate and is the likely callup if one of Detriot's NHL goaltenders falter.
