A happy Thanksgiving to those who observe! A friendly reminder to bring a food bank donation to the Oil Kings game today. Twice in the Oil Kings modern day history, a Thanksgiving Day game has landed on the 13th. Both times were home wins versus Brandon. Here is hoping Edmonton starts that same streak hosting Lethbridge. What other wins have happened on this day? Let's recollect!
2007-08
Robin Figren and Michael Hengen scored third period goals for the Oil Kings in Medicine Hat. Shame the Medicine Hat Tigers had already scored six of their own goals.
2008-09 Thanksgiving Day

Brett Breitkreuz scored the Oil Kings first goal of the game and the overtime winner! Jeff Lee had a hat-trick of assists and the team had a hat-trick of powerplay goals. Dalyn Flette made 28 saves in the win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.
2014-15 Thanksgiving

The Oil Kings overcame a sluggish start as goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped 13 first period shots by Brandon. Edmonton only had six first period shots but came out cooking in the second firing 15 shots and scoring three goals. Seven games into this '14-15, this game had Cole Benson (two), Mads Eller and Edgars Kulda all pot their first goals of the year. Jarry finished with 26 saves.
2015-16
Garan Magnes and Brett Pollock were your Oil Kings goal scorers on this Tuesday night in Swift Current. It was not enough goals to win the game. Patrick Dea finished with 20 saves.
2018-19
Future Oil King Simon Kubicek scored the first two goals for Seattle. Former Oil King goaltender Liam Hughes made 38 saves. Oil Kings netminder Dylan Myskiw faced 38 shots but 7 got by him.
2019-20

Carter Souch scored the shootout winner sending the Rogers Place faithful home happy. Matthew Robertson scored the only regulation time goal. Sebastian Cossa finished with 31 saves.
