Joe Barrer, an assistant under former Squadron head coach T.J. Saint the past two seasons, has been named head coach for the 2025-26 season. Meanwhile, Alex Kaufman comes to Birmingham where he will serve as General Manager of Basketball Operations, the team announced yesterday. Kaufman spent the previous two seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans as manager of player evaluation and basketball operations. Together, Barrer and Kaufman have over fifteen years of professional basketball experience on the coaching or administrative level. Birmingham, entering their fifth season as NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, will host an open tryout on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham beginning at 8:30 AM.
